Easy Peasy Delicious Homemade Lemonade

After making cranberry juice, ginger ale, and cream soda and even trying our hand at making sparkling water using yeast, I decided to try my hand at making lemonade. Little did I know that lemonade is the easiest juice to make! The only thing you need to remember is 1:1:1. That’s 1 part water to 1 part sugar to 1 part lemon. It takes about 10-15 minutes to make and it’s absolutely delicious on a hot summer day. They turn into very refreshing popsicles too!

Syrup: equal parts sugar and water, heated on the stove until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
The key to lemonade: the lemons
Lemon juice: Squeeze enough lemons to get an equal part of lemon juice (to the sugar and to the water).

For illustrative purposes, 3 whole lemons can get you almost 1 cup of lemon juice. You can mix this with 1 cup water and 1 cup syrup to make over 2L of lemonade (more if you prefer dilute juice). Clarification: A few folks have pointed out that my math isn’t making much sense with this recipe…so I’m correcting what I wrote: you make the 1:1 water/sugar syrup, then mix it with 1 portion of lemon juice, then you dilute this entire mixture with as much water as you would like to create the flavour that you like. Not diluting it further with water will give you a very concentrated mixture. I can dilute the 1 cup water: 1 cup sugar: 1 cup lemon juice with enough water to make a total of just over 2L of juice. Hope this makes sense!

Just the right balance of tangy and sweet for me! Why did I ever buy this stuff!?
