Since we were in Montreal with a friend who had never been to Montreal before, we thought long and hard about what we should eat to really feel like we’re in Montreal. We crossed off poutine, Schwartz’s smoked meat sandwiches…but what should we eat for breakfast?
Why, how about croissants! And so we found ourselves running into Boulangerie Mr Pinchot Inc. (4354, rue de Brébeuf). Unfortunately, I cannot do this place justice because I was starving by the time we got to the bakery and quickly devoured the croissant and chocolatine that I’d bought. However, I can tell you that both were THE BEST that I have ever had. The right amount of butter, flaky, airy…combined with great flavour.
It was an interesting experience being in the bakery because they have easily accessible displays of pastries but the employees will actually put the pastries in paper bags for you. They were very kind, the place definitely feels like a nice little neighbourhood bakery, and the location – in the middle of a residential area – gives the whole place a very nostalgic feel.
Sorry – next time I’ll try to take a picture but their breads are just so inviting that it’s hard to keep them out of my mouth long enough to take one!
